Happy New Year! I wish you all the best as we kick off the new year!
I am happy to announce that as of January 1, 2016 I will be only seeing patients at two locations. I will continue to see patients at Dressler Ophthalmology Associates, PLC and the office of Anh Nguyen, M.D. Anh Nguyen, M.D. is a cataract and refractive specialist. Linda Dressler, M.D. has a great comprehensive ophthalmology practice. I see patients as a retina specialist in both offices.
I will no longer be seeing patients at Capital Eye Consultants.
I am still located close to Washington, D.C. in northern Virginia. I have been seeing patients at the Dressler location for about 6 years and at Dr. Nguyen’s office for almost one year.

Woodburn Surgery Center
Nothing has changed with regard to the surgery center. I will continue to operate Woodburn Surgical Center where I have been for the last 7-8 years.
I truly believe we have assembled one of finest retina surgical teams including those who perform anesthesia, assist me in the operating room and administer immediate postoperative care. I hope we can remain together for the upcoming year.
27 Gauge Vitrectomy
At this moment, we are not able to routinely perform 27 gauge vitrectomy. While the instrumentation is finally available commercially, we are hopeful that the 27 gauge “kits” will soon be available. The “kits” contain all equipment and instruments needed to perform a surgical case.
I still feel that the biggest “game changer” was evolving from 20 gauge to 25 gauge vitrectomy systems. There are some theoretic advantages to 27 gauge over 25 gauge, but I do not know if this will translate into easier or safer surgery.
Happy New Year
I hope to be more consistent with my postings and updates on this site. My goal for this year is to make this more of a video blog – embedding videos containing the same information as the text regarding floater treatment, etc.
All the best!
